Three-step Method

In this method, you need to have the following: clay cat litter, dishwashing liquid soap and a quality wire scrub brush. First, cover the stain in the clay litter, removing as much of the oil from the affected area as possible before scrubbing away. Let it sit for as long as possible to absorb the stain. For heavy stains, you can leave it overnight. Sweep the litter up and discard.

Next, use your liquid dish soap and saturate the stain. Let it sit for an hour; this will cut and break up the grease. Then, work the wire scrub brush on the stain in a circular motion, reapplying soap and a bit of water when needed. Rinse with clean water and let the area dry.

Other Cleaning Methods To Consider

Aside from the abovementioned method, you can consider other approaches in cleaning your concrete or epoxy garage floor. Trisodium phosphate (TSP) or a heavy-duty phosphate-free cleaner will do the trick. Dilute the cleaner in a gallon of hot water, pour onto the oil stain, and soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Scrub with a stiff brush and rinse. Be sure to wear eye protection and rubber gloves for this.

Mixing paint thinner and sawdust to remove the stain is also an alternative. Spread the soaked sawdust over the stain and let sit for 20 minutes. Remove and repeat if necessary. Once the stain removal is nearly complete, you can finish it with cleaning using a concentrated detergent.
